Modeling spheres

I'm doing some modeling exercises right now as part of my continuing process of mastering PS. Here are some spheres. The first one shows the full light (diffuse color), half-light (transition), shadow (form shadow), and reflected light as clearly delineated regions in order to help me clearly see my topology. The next version is the same sphere only that the regions are now blended to create a more 3-dimensional feel.
